Who are Phil Jones? Man United New Sign June 2011

Blackburn Rovers star Phil Jones is having a medical at United's training ground before signing a five-year contract for Manchester United ahead of a £16 million transfer to Old Trafford. Jones, who made his Premier League debut in March last year, played 28 times last season despite being hampered by injuries, and is part of England's European Under-21 Championship squad. Jones would face stiff competition for a first-team place at United from the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling.

The Man For £30million

Manchester United have to splash £ 30million to the prize-wing Alexis Sanchez of Udinese. United hopes to land its golden Chile, 22, for £ 5m less - but Italy refused to lower their asking price. Sanchez prefer a link-up with Alex Ferguson ahead of Barcelona, because he knows he will spend much time on the bench as the Camp Nou field.
